This section addresses the failure of Red River College’s Indigenous Centre to act on, acknowledge, or support critical issues brought forward by Indigenous students.
Despite their stated roles as advocates and protectors, the following individuals directly contributed to the silencing of valid concerns and the erasure of harm through inaction, delay, or obstruction.
RRC Indigenous Centre Staff
Elder Paul Guimond
Role: Cultural Elder and community liaison.
Issue: Despite being informed of institutional harm, he failed to speak out or intervene. His silence reinforced administrative denial and abandonment of student welfare.
Brittany Ross
Role: Indigenous Centre staff and programming coordinator.
Issue: Participated in communications that dismissed student experiences and reframed systemic issues as isolated incidents. Offered no structural support.
Hilary
Role: Indigenous student advisor.
Issue: Was informed of repeated misconduct and targeted exclusion, yet failed to take follow-up action. Allowed administrative interference to go unchallenged.
Unnamed Indigenous Dean
Role: Oversight of Indigenous academic and cultural services.
Issue: Canceled a scheduled meeting addressing racism without explanation, contributing to the continued obstruction of accountability. Their role in blocking internal resolution is now part of the public record.
